Called to Write

I heard behind me a loud voice that sounded like a trumpet. It said, “Write down on a scroll whatever you see.

”REVELATION 1:10-11 (CEB)

One afternoon I was feeling exhausted after the work of teaching primary school online from home during the pandemic. Suddenly, today’s scripture verse echoed in my mind: Write whatever you see.

I didn’t consider myself a writer, so I was particularly struck by this thought. I kept pondering the meaning of this verse, and deep inside I felt that God was calling me to do something — I just didn’t know what it was.

As I prayed and asked the Holy Spirit for guidance, I felt reassured. I shared my experience with my wife, and she encouraged me to obey God’s call. So I did. I started by writing down my experience of following Jesus in a country where Christians are in the minority and shared my writing on my blog and with other publications. To my surprise, people started to read my words and told me they had been blessed by my writing.

From this experience, I have learned that the Holy Spirit can work in any situation. God will always find a way to spread the good news of Christ.
