“Seeking and Searching For God”

Have you taken the time to pray today? Do you speak to God every day? Do
you listen for His voice? Do you trust that He’ll help you in solving all
problems; big or small?

I do realize God is always with me, but I’m not always aware of Him. Does
that make sense? I pray constantly and yet, I still have a tendency to
want to do things in “my own way” instead of “God’s way.” Why am I so
impatient? Why can’t I let go and let God lead me?

I came across a poem recently that truly made me pause and think….

I had so much to accomplish
that I didn’t take time to pray.

Problems just tumbled about me,
and heavier became each task.

“Why doesn’t God help me,” I wondered.
He answered, “You didn’t ask.”

I wanted to see joy and beauty,
but the day toiled on, gray and bleak.

I wondered why God didn’t show me,
He said, “But you didn’t seek.”

I tried to come into God’s presence;
I used all my keys at the lock,

God gently and lovingly chided,
“My child, you didn’t knock.”

I woke up early this morning
and paused before entering the day.

I had so much to accomplish,
that I had to take time to pray.

The song, “Seek Ye First” is one of my favorites because it’s written so
simply and to the point. What should be one of the easiest tasks in life,
to seek God first, is at times, one of the absolute hardest things to
remember. We are busy, but God is never too busy for us. Stop and pray!

“Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness; and all these
things shall be added unto you. Hallelu, Hallelujah. Ask and it shall be
given unto you; seek and you shall find; knock and it shall be opened unto
you. Hallelu, Hallelujah.”

“O God, Thou art my God; I shall seek Thee earnestly; my soul thirsts for
Thee, my flesh yearns for Thee, in a dry and weary land where there is no
water.” (Psalm 63:1)
