Reading Program – some may not be aware that we have been hosting a reading program each month. There are opportunities to show the face of Jesus even as we help someone read or just by giving a child a book.
Last summer the Springdale UMC held reading program opportunities at the Little Bear Campground each month and shared books as well as reading with children. We also were blessed to enjoy the beautiful weather as we shared outdoors. The West Branch Village mobile home park had an interest in us starting this program in their community building so we started making this available this year.
Last month it was so inspiring to see some middle school and high school youth interested in some of the book options that we had available and each took at least one book home with them as well as enjoying refreshments with the volunteers. We encouraged them to return the next month and attend our worship service if they were interested. It is so important to encourage our youth to read – thanks to the volunteers that have assisted with this ministry!
